ISA

n ISA (Individual Savings Account) is a tax-efficient way to save or invest.

Usually, when you have a savings account, you pay income tax on whatever interest you earn. But the interest on a Cash ISA isn't taxed, so all the interest you earn, you keep.

If you're starting to think about saving, ISAs are a great place to begin.

Stocks & Shares ISA:

Allows you to invest into range of investments, such as government and corporate bonds, property and stocks & shares as part of your ISA allowance. Because they are held in an ISA, any gains you make are tax efficient, helping you to save tax depending on what investments you have and what levels of tax you pay.

Onshore Bonds

B

onds are debt/loans issued by companies or Governments. They are a form of Fixed Interest security. They pay an income called a coupon that is usually fixed but can be variable. They commonly vary in duration from 1 year until 10 years. The primary attraction of bonds is that they provide a stable, predictable and reliable form of income.

Mortgage Life Insurance

t's a policy usually bought to pay off your outstanding mortgage in theevent of your death. You may have also heard it called decreasing term life insurance.

Each month you pay your mortgage, the total amount you owe to the bank or building society decreases. If you have a mortgage life policy, the amount paid out in the event of a claim decreases at around the same rate.

I

Maximum Investment Plan (MIP)

he Maximum Investment Plan aims to provide a flexible, tax-efficient method of getting growth from your regular payments over a time frame of 10 years or more. It enables you to spread and adapt your investments as you wish, according to your financial goals and your attitude to risk.

As the MIP is what HM Revenue & Customs term a ‘qualifying' investment, any growth from your investments will be free from personal income and capital gains tax as long as you continue to pay sufficient premiums each year for the full initial 10-year term.

T

Annuities

n annuity is a type of insurance policy. You hand over a pension pot (or part of it) to an annuity provider, and that company will give you an income for the rest of your life. In essence, the company uses what it knows about you to estimate how long you’ll live, and then works out how much it will pay you, every month, in exchange for your pension pot.

Fixed Term Annuity:

Also known as a fixed term plan, it is written under flexi-access drawdown (FAD) rules. It is not a conventional lifetime annuity and allows you to avoid buying an annuity and receive a pension fund back in the future to consider your options again.

Collateral Lending

ollateralised Lending has become a key part of the borrowing-lending transaction because if a borrower stops making the promised loan payments, the lender can seize the collateral to recover losses. Collateral offers security to the lender in case of a default from the borrower.

Additionally collateralised loans have typically lower interest rates than unsecured loans as the lender is sure than then will get their lent amount back either through loan repayments or the collateral.
